Stronger Door Security
A standard doorknob lock provides almost zero security against a forced entry. A properly installed deadbolt is the foundation of residential and commercial security. iProtect Locksmith provides professional deadbolt installation, repair, and replacement across the GTA.
Deadbolts work well only when the lock, strike plate, door, and frame line up perfectly. A deadbolt that requires you to push, pull, or lift the door to lock it is a security risk and will eventually break. We ensure the bolt throws cleanly and effortlessly.
Deadbolt Services
- Fresh Installations: Drilling new holes in doors that currently only have a knob lock.
- Hardware Upgrades: Comparing builder-grade locks with compatible deadbolts offering documented resistance and key-control features.
- Smart Locks: Installing electronic keypads and smart deadbolts that integrate with your home automation.
- Security Reinforcement: Installing heavy-duty strike plates with 3-inch screws that anchor deep into the wall studs, massively increasing kick-in resistance.
- Door Alignment: Adjusting sagging hinges or shifting frames so your existing deadbolt locks smoothly.
Before We Install
We don’t just screw a lock onto a door. We check the door’s thickness, the backset measurement, the condition of the existing holes, and the integrity of the frame to ensure the hardware we install will provide maximum security.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you install a deadbolt on a door that doesn't have one?
Yes, this is called a 'fresh install'. We use specialized jigs and hole saws to drill perfectly aligned holes into your wood, steel, or fiberglass door and frame to install a new deadbolt.
What is the difference between a single and double cylinder deadbolt?
A single-cylinder deadbolt has a keyhole on the outside and a thumb-turn on the inside. A double-cylinder deadbolt requires a key on both the outside and inside, often used on doors with glass panels to prevent someone from breaking the glass and reaching in to unlock the door.
Can you make my new deadbolt match my existing house key?
Yes, if you purchase a deadbolt that uses the same keyway profile (e.g., Schlage or Weiser) as your existing locks, we can rekey the new deadbolt to match your current house key before installing it.
