Lost Mailbox Key or Jammed Lock?

Mailbox lock replacement might seem like a small job, but losing access to your mail means missing bills, important documents, and packages. Furthermore, a broken mailbox lock exposes you to identity theft. iProtect Locksmith provides fast, reliable mailbox lock replacement across the GTA.

Whether you’ve lost your keys, the key broke off in the lock, or you’ve just moved into a new condo and want to ensure the previous tenant can’t access your mail, we can help.

Common Mailbox Lock Scenarios

  • Lost Keys: We drill out the old lock safely, open the door, and install a brand new cam lock with fresh keys.
  • Tenant Turnover: Replacing the lock on condo or apartment mailboxes so keys for the previous cylinder no longer operate it.
  • Jammed Locks: Removing rusted or weather-damaged locks on outdoor community mailboxes and replacing them with durable hardware.
  • Commercial Mailboxes: Servicing large banks of mailboxes for property managers and office buildings.

Bring the Right Details When You Call

To ensure we dispatch a technician with the correct replacement lock, please let us know if you live in a condo, an apartment, or use an outdoor community superbox. If possible, having a photo of the lock ready helps us confirm the exact part needed before we arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Canada Post replace my mailbox lock?+

Canada Post only replaces locks on community superboxes if the lock is broken. If you lost your key, or if you live in an apartment/condo where the mailbox bank is owned by the building, you are responsible for hiring a locksmith to replace the lock.

I lost my only mailbox key. How do you get in?+

We will carefully drill out the existing lock cylinder to open the mailbox door without damaging the surrounding metal door. Once open, we install a brand new lock and provide you with a new set of keys.

Can you make a key from the number on the lock?+

For security reasons, most modern mailbox locks do not have key codes stamped on the outside. If all keys are lost, the entire small lock assembly must be drilled out and replaced.
